          The artistic brilliance of Chandela kings comes alive with these magnificent temples dedicated to love.The temple architecture is unique in itself .The Chandela rajput Kings carved the human emotions in the stones of the temple.The temple with erotic sculptures was built so that student who remained Brahmacharis
till they became adults could learn from the carvings as they entered the married life.

These temples located in the Bundelkhand region are a UNESCO world heritage site.These aesthetically sculpted carving depict the poses of Kamasutra.The carving depicting the human sentiments and innocence of love are simply

Piran Kaliyar


Piran Kaliyar, also known as Kaliyar Sharif is burial site of famous sufi saint Allauddin Ali Ahmed Sabir. Near Haridwar this place attracts millions of devotees from around the world. It is about 20 km away from Haridwar and only 10km from the Roorkee. The shrine is believed to make the wishes of its devotees fulfilled. The tomb of the dargah was built by Ibrahim Lodhi.The tomb has open grills which allow the air to move freely in the complex. The saints are considered to be Allah’s messenger and people want to be buried near the Shrine when they die. The tomb contains the graves of numerous followers of Saint PiranKaliyar. Many shops have sprung up around the shrine selling the merchandise and souvenirs. The place faces rush during the ‘urs’,the festival celebrating the Saint’s death anniversary.

Bageshwar


    The holy town of Bageshwar is the place that can liberate one from the cycle of life
 and death as told in the puranas. The sacred temple of Baghnath, Lord Shiva attracts
devotees from far and wide. Especially on ‘Shivratri’ festival the rush has to be seen
to be believed. This beautiful town lies between the Gomati River and Saryu River.

Kausauni

Badrinath Temple - Seat of Lord Vishnu

     Badrinath is regarded as the seat of Lord Vishnu,seen as the most important of the char dham .It gets more visitors than the other three because it lies on the way to Hemkund sahib,the Sikh pilgrimage.
       Located on the banks of river Alaknanada and along the Neelkanth mountains ,Badrinath temple is second to none.Badridham is regarded as the holiest of the four temple,devoted to Lord Vishnu.Perched on the mountain ranges of Nar and Narayan ,Badrinath is the home of Lord Vishnu.The name Badrinath is derived from the local berries growing the area known as 'Badri'.

Yamunotri -Char dham

      The starting point of the Char dam yatra is the Yamunotri.The place where Yamuna the daughter of Surya,emerges and purifies the earth.Yamuna is also known as Jamuna and Kalindi.It is believed that whoever takes a bath in river Yamuna will be spared a torturous death as Yamuna is sister of Yamraj,Lord of Death.

       This temple dedicated to river Yamuna is 3165 mts above sea level .The shrive witnesses large numbers of devotees from April to October.Yamunotri is the source of river Yamuna originating from Champassar glacier 1 km ahead of the temple,quite difficult to get there.
      The temple boasts of three hot springs,most important being the Surya kund. Here the tank is filled with boiling water and rice is dipped into it to be taken as prasad. A sulfur hot spring where males take a bath is quite refreshing.A draupadi kund is also in the premises of the temple.
      Divya shila is a rock slab where prayers are offered to the deity.The trek from Janaki  chatti is filled with scenic beauty and warefalls along the mountains.

Train    -nearest station Rishikesh,Dehradun,Haridwar.
Road     - Rishikesh to Yamunotri:222km
                via Narendernagar to chamba ,Tehri,Dharasu,Barkot,
                Janakichatti.

                Another route is from Dehradun to Barkot to Janaki 
               chatti.(It being shorter)

The lotus sutra-Open for display at Delhi

         A rare moment for buddhism here in Delhi as Lotus sutra opens today to public.As informed by Times of India ,Gilgit Lotus sutra manuscript discovered by cattle grazers in Gilgit in a Buddhist stupa in 1931.This rare manuscript housed with the National Archives of India,dates back to 5-6th century AD.They are perhaps the only body of Buddhist manuscripts discovered in India.
        The first set of Gilgit Lotus Sutra manuscripts was found in a wooden box inside a circular chamber of a Buddhist stupa in 1931 in POK.National Archives say that manuscript survived the test of time because of sub zero temperature of region and the fact that it was written on a Bhoj(birch) tree that is resistant to decay.
         The Lotus sutra is one of the most revered scriptures of Mahayana Buddhism and represents the discourses delivered by Buddha towards the last days of his life.The sutra originally written in Buddhist form of sanskrit ,in English this sutra means'Sutra of white lotus of sublime Dhamma'.It is popularly known as the Lotus sutra.
         The Lotus sutra states that Buddhahood is a condition of immense happiness,freedom from fear and from all illusion-is inherent in all life forms.The development of this ability enables all to overcome the problems of life and live a fulfilled active life,fully engaged with others and society.The Lotus sutra asserts the ultimate reality of Buddha nature inherent in life forms.It is a teaching which profoundly affirms the realities of life and encourages one to develop communication channels with others and society at large.It make attainment of enlighenment a possibility open to all people regardless of their race,gender,education or societal status.
